The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires that any records of residence addresses provided by the DMV to a commercial entity, such as an auto dealership, remain confidential. It also requires that an auto dealer obtain a Commercial Requestor Bond, or a DMV Bond as it’s known, to protect consumers against fraudulent actions before the information is even released.
Dealer Protection Group (DPG) can assist you in obtaining a Commercial Requestor Bond. We’re familiar both with state regulations and the underwriting guidelines of the surety companies issuing these bonds, and can walk you through the entire process.
The bond protects the officers of the DMV and any other person who may suffer loss or damage as the result or failure of the principal to protect and secure information obtained from the DMV. You must complete and submit the application for a Commercial Requestor Account Bond, which contains all of the pertinent information regarding your business and business owners. Once the application is received, a routine examination of your personal credit history will be performed to determine approval of the bond. Upon approval and in your possession, the Commercial Requestor Bond must be filed with the DMV along with all the related paperwork.
